5. FDA Finds Traces of Melamine in US Infant Formula

Traces of the industrial chemical melamine have been detected in samples of top-selling U.S. infant formula, but federal regulators insist the products are safe.
The Food and Drug Administration said last month it was unable to identify any melamine exposure level as safe for infants, but a top official said it would be a "dangerous overreaction" for parents to stop feeding infant formula to babies who depend on it.

8. Prestidge Chosen to Head Kroger Delta Division

Mark Prestidge has been promoted to president of The Kroger Co.'s Delta Division. The Delta Division is based in Memphis and includes 111 Kroger stores in Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. Prestidge succeeds Richard Tillman, who recently announced his retirement after a 42-year career with Kroger. Prestidge previously served as vice president of operations for Kroger's Southwest Division.

The Memphis Area Legal Services' board of directors has elected Antonio "Toney" Matthews to serve as its vice president. Matthews is an attorney with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC and is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association and the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility Hearing Committee.

The New York Times Co. Broadcast Media Group announced that Bruce Moore was named news director of WREG-TV in Memphis, effective Jan. 30. Moore is a 15-year veteran of WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Va. He served as assistant director of WVEC-TV for seven years. He graduated from the University of Georgia.
