PITTSBURGH (AP) – The St. Louis Cardinals selected the contract of outfielder Joey Butler from Triple-A Memphis before their series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

EmergeMemphis has announced its new board of directors officers for 2013.

The officers include chairman Scott Fountain, senior vice president and chief development officer for Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp.; immediate past chairman Amy Howell, CEO of Howell Marketing Strategies LLC; secretary Joey Dudek Jr., attorney with Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens and Cannada PLLC; and treasurer Joe Lyons, chief financial officer with True Temper Sports.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Critics of a proposed anti-immigration law in Mississippi called it an unfunded mandate for law enforcement and urged the state to avoid rushing to adopt a measure akin to one facing legal challenges in Arizona.

7. Noel Becomes ABA Delegate From Tennessee -

Randall D. Noel has been elected as the Tennessee delegate to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates.

Noel is a member of Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada PLLC’s Commercial Litigation Group. Noel is a Fellow of the American, Tennessee and Memphis Bar Foundations and has served as president of the Tennessee Bar Association.

8. Butler Snow Attys. Honored As Super Lawyers -

Thirty-one attorneys from Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada PLLC have been selected for inclusion in the 2009 edition of Mid-South Super Lawyers, with nine of those attorneys in the firm’s Memphis office.

9. Mayor Herenton's Executive Assistant Moves to MLGW -

Gale Jones Carson has been named director of corporate communications for Memphis Light, Gas & Water Division. In her new executive-level position, she will report directly to MLGW president and CEO Joseph Lee III. She previously was executive assistant to Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton.
