5. African-American TV Station Broadens Presence -

A new set of programming on Comcast Channel 31 geared toward Memphis’ African-American community is continuing to broaden its presence in the city.

The Carter Malone Group has developed a website for the venture, called MUTV1, which is short for Memphis Urban Television 1. In addition to serving as its agency of record, The Carter Malone Group CEO Deidre Malone also has a show on the channel called “Dialogue with Deidre.”

The Carter Malone Group LLC wants to help area small business owners figure out how the cookie crumbles, so to speak, when it comes to entrepreneurship and owning a business venture.

7. Neely’s Has Plans to Revamp Jefferson Store -

Pat and Gina Neely, Memphis barbecue entrepreneurs and celebrity chef couple from “Down Home with the Neelys” on the Food Network, have closed the two Memphis Neely’s Bar-B-Que restaurants, FedExForum concessions and catering business.

8. Memphis Connect, Neelys Team Up to Fight Hunger -

Memphis Connect, the website of the Leadership Academy’s talent recruitment and retention program, is asking Memphians to submit their picks for their favorite ways to give back in the Bluff City.

9. Neelys Bring Down-Home Style to Tunica -

It’s an age-old argument, and Pat and Gina Neely know it well.

“I like a lot of sauce, but Gina likes her ribs dry,” said Pat, of Neely’s Bar-B-Que and Food Network fame.

10. Kraft Foods Launches Campaign to Fight Hunger -

Kraft Foods has kicked off its Huddle to Fight Hunger campaign with the goal of providing 20 million meals to Feeding America.

The company has coordinated a campaign that uses newspaper and magazine ads, the cinema, consumer incentives, social and mobile activities and the celebrity of Memphis chefs Pat and Gina Neely, sports journalist Erin Andrews and Joe Montana.
