1. ZeroTo510 Accelerator Companies Win Funding -

One mark of the success of a startup accelerator program is if investors like what they see, once participating companies have gone through the program and are making pitches for funding.

By that standard, ZeroTo510 – the medical device company accelerator based in Memphis – continues to prove its value by setting up its participants to score the funding they need to build sustainable businesses. Two companies that went through ZeroTo510’s 2014 summer program – Compression Kinetics and EndoInSight – have been tapped to continue to the program’s next phase, also landing $100,000 in new funding each.

2. Guscette Named Sales Representative at P.O.P. Solutions -

Ally Guscette has been promoted to sales representative at Germantown-based brand-marketing firm P.O.P. Solutions Group LLC. In her new role, Guscette will help businesses develop brand awareness through promotional products, press kits, print materials and point-of-purchase displays. She joined the company in 2011 as part of a sales team and begins Germantown Leadership training this month.

3. Starting Up -

Shawn Flynn and Ryan Ramkhelawan have, both literally and figuratively, come a long way in a few months.

They moved to Memphis recently to bring their medical industry-focused startup here and take it through the inaugural round of a new startup accelerator program, ZeroTo510. Since the end of that program – a boot camp-style mix of mentorship, networking and related instruction that came with an infusion of cash – their startup Restore Medical Solutions got a term sheet and an invitation to negotiate for a Series A round of venture capital funding.

4. Logan New Director Of AHA Heart Ball -

Sarah Logan has joined the American Heart Association as director of the Heart Ball.

5. State Supreme Court Appointment Process Up for Debate -

The Tennessee Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling any day that could clear the way for the appointment of a fifth justice to the state's highest court. The seat has been vacant since the fall.
