One of the newest office buildings in East Memphis has landed a popular local coffee shop and restaurant.

Tamp & Tap responded to repeated overtures from Highwoods Properties Inc. and has leased 2,785 square feet of space on the first floor of the Triad Centre III building on Poplar Avenue in East Memphis.

Memphis Louie LLC applied for its Bar Louie location at 2125 Madison in Overton Square, the Midtown district being redeveloped by Loeb Properties Inc. The Addison, Texas-based franchise will occupy 5,982 square feet of the curved building on the southwest corner of Madison and Cooper Street. The space originally housed Playhouse on the Square in the 1970s.

The 100-year-old, 5,826-square-foot, two-story building housed Yosemite’s Sam’s for 39 years before Loeb Properties Inc. acquired the property from Faye Pannell in August for $350,000.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – An activist investment fund disclosed Thursday that it has bought a 5.2 percent stake in troubled Web portal Yahoo Inc. and called for sweeping changes to the board.

11. YoLo in Midst of Targeted Growth Spurt -

In February 2010, Taylor Berger’s wife introduced him to the concept of self-serve frozen yogurt.

Within half a year, he and partner Mike McCaskill had opened two YoLo Frozen Yogurt stores – one in Collierville’s Historic Town Square and one in East Memphis in the Erin Way Shopping Center. By the end of this summer, the pair plan to have nine more up and running.
