Shelby County commissioners pick a new state representative at Monday’s session to round out the 22-member Shelby County delegation to Nashville.

The commission meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Vasco Smith County Administration Building, 160 N. Main St.

6. Our Own Voice Examines Customer Service, Love -

Even customer service reps need love, according to a new play by a theater troupe focused on inclusiveness. Our Own Voice (OOV), a company in residence at TheatreWorks, hopes to challenge audiences to empathize with workers in an industry that often gets an earful.

7. Some GOP Candidates to Skip Fundraiser Over Cost -

CHATTANOOGA (AP) - Some Republican candidates in Tennessee's 3rd Congressional District race say they plan to skip a Saturday GOP fundraiser after they were hit with a demand to pay $2,000 for the right to speak there.

8. Third District Congressional Race Now Has Democrat -

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - There is finally a Democrat in the race for Tennessee's 3rd District congressional seat.

Brenda Short of East Ridge held a kickoff event Friday. The seat is up for grabs with incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp running for governor.

9. TennCare Cuts Under Way Now -

Call it coincidence or bad timing, but many physicians in Tennessee began taking a 14 percent cut for seeing TennCare patients on the same day Gov. Phil Bredesen announced deep cuts in health care spending.

Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital has named Rebecca Cullison assistant administrator of clinical support services.

Cullison has been with Methodist for three years, first as an administrative resident and most recently as the manager of system operations.

14. New School Gives Students Science Frontiers To Conquer -

In the coming years, students of one new high school in Memphis will graduate with more than a diploma.

The students of the tentatively named South Side Health Career Academy will have the opportunity to receive professional certifications that could put them into the workforce immediately after graduation.

15. Melick Tapped to Manage Fixed Income Banking Group at Morgan Keegan & Co. -

Jordan Melick has joined Morgan Keegan & Co. Inc. as a managing director for the firm's Fixed Income Banking Group. Melick previously was managing director of the health care finance team of Minneapolis, Minn.-based Piper Jaffray & Co. He began his career in health financing in 1991 at Detroit-based Comerica Bank.
