The first Memphis Indie Holiday Market is happening next week.

Anna Avant of Hoot-Louise and Brit McDaniel of Paper & Clay announced the new event, which will be held Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lot behind Hoot-Louise’s Downtown Memphis store, 109 G.E. Patterson Ave.

Later this month, three independent retail shops that stretch from Oxford, Miss., to East Memphis will join forces Downtown for a one-day “pop-up shop” event that includes food and music.

Muddy’s Bake Shop and Oxford-based vinyl record store The End of All Music will bring some of their respective wares May 15 to Downtown clothing accessories store Hoot-Louise, at 109 G. E. Patterson Ave.

4. Avant Finds Soul, Passion in South Main Neighborhood -

In 2002, Ben Avant, now 35, was a young, Charleston, S.C.-based stock and bond trader with a world of possibilities at his feet and a heavy choice to make.

5. South Main’s Hoot + Louise Mixes Modern With Vintage -

Memphian Anna Avant has always had a flair for vintage style.

“In high school, I would get dressed to go out, and I’d have on my cute outfit and then throw in a handbag of my grandmother’s or some of her jewelry,” she said. “I just always loved mixing up the modern and vintage.”
