US Foods, formerly U.S. Foodservice, is shuttering its Paducah, Ky., plant, with the services shifting to a recently expanded facility in Memphis.
The company had been leasing 175,000 square feet at 5900 Holmes Road in Hickory Hill, but announced in February plans to buy the building from Belz Enterprises and expand its operations to fill the entire 385,000 square feet.

Friday’s special meeting will also include an update on two projects still in the running for the $42.5 million of Federal Recovery Zone Facility Bonds allocated to the city and county governments.

U.S. Foodservice Inc. is considering buying and expanding its Hickory Hill distribution facility.
The company that markets and distributes more than 30,000 brand items from its warehouse at 5900 East Holmes Road is applying for a seven-year, $14.3 million payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) program that would save the company $2.1 million in real and personal city and county taxes.

Two worldwide companies with Memphis operations plan to lay off a total of 87 workers in Shelby County starting at the end of September.
The North American division of Louis Vuitton plans to lay off 51 workers at the ELX Distribution facility at 5900 East Holmes Road in Hickory Hill between Oct. 15 and Dec. 31, according to a notice filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
