Dr. Dwight “Dan” Dishmon has joined the Department of Medicine at UT Medical Group.
Dishmon is an interventional cardiologist and cares for adults with ischemic heart disease and peripheral arterial disease.
He earned his medical degree and completed his internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He later completed additional fellowship training at Michigan State University’s Borgess Medical Center.

A U.S. Supreme Court decision Monday regarding a Nashville/Davidson County school system employee has clarified a clause of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, offering more protection for employees and shaping the scope of Title VII and how it is used.

A federal judge has denied in part a motion by attorneys for Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell to dismiss a federal lawsuit filed against him by Shelby County Sheriff's deputies.

The judge also granted part of that same motion, which included dismissing claims against Luttrell in his official capacity.

Arnold Perl is a recognized name to many Memphians.

He served as chairman of the Memphis Arena Public Building Authority, which was charged with overseeing construction of the $250 million publically funded FedExForum. He also is chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority.

Louis P. Britt enjoyed two significant professional accomplishments during January. He was elected a fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation and appointed managing partner for the Memphis office of Ford & Harrison LLP.

21. Baker Donelson Hires New IT Professional -

Cheryl Proctor just joined Baker Donelson's information technology management team as client services manager. Proctor currently serves as Southeast regional vice president of the International Legal Technology Association. She will direct Baker Donelson's client support services group. The group provides firm-wide electronic services, offering Baker Donelson's clients and attorneys sophisticated document sharing capabilities and technologically advanced litigation support systems. Proctor previously served as manager of application services at Waller Landsen Dortch & Davis PLLC in Nashville.

22. Ford & Harrison Attorney Earns Peer Honor -

Herb Gerson is one of three attorneys from the Memphis office of Ford & Harrison law firm who was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2006.

Gerson has served as managing partner of his labor and employment firm's Memphis office and as a member of the firm's executive committee since 2000. He earned bachelor's and law degrees from Emory University in Atlanta.

23. Barnes Elected Chairman of FedEx/St. Jude Classic -

Reggie Barnes was elected general chairman of the FedEx St. Jude Classic and president of Youth Programs Inc., the governing body of the PGA Tour event. Barnes previously served as treasurer of Youth Programs. He also is the former chairman of the Memphis and Shelby County Sports Authority and the team selection committee for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. Barnes is managing director of Morgan Keegan & Co. and also works with Athletic Resource Management.
