Tennessee’s unemployment rate for October remained at 9.4 percent, unchanged from the September rate and just below the national September and October unemployment rates of 9.6 percent.

“For the second month in a row, Tennessee has an unemployment rate lower than the national average,” said James Neeley, state commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development. “Job increases are becoming much more diverse across industries with most private-sector industries showing job growth in the past year.”

The Pfizer Inc. Memphis Logistics Center has received the Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety from Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley.
The facility, which employs 200 people, qualified for the award by logging more than 512,000 hours without any lost time or injuries.
